     12  जानेवारी १८६३ कोलकत्ता येथे एक तेजस्वी बालक जन्मला. त्याचा चेहरा अतिशय तेजस्वी होता. जणू काही चेहर्यावरून तेज ओसंडून जात आहे. असेच बघणार्यांना वाटले. या तेजस्वी बालकाच्या वडिलांचे नाव विश्वनाथ दत्त आणि आईचे नाव भुवनेश्वरी देवी.विश्वनाथ दत्त हे कोलकत्त्यातील एक प्रसिद्ध वकील होते. त्यांनी धंद्यात खूप नाव मिळविले होते. पैसाही चांगला मिळविला होता ते स्वभावाने सदाचारी, पत्नी हि भुवनेश्वरी समाधानी व धार्मिक होती. त्यामुळे त्यांचा संसार सुखासामाधानीच होता. तेजस्वी बालकाचे बारसे मोठ्या थाटामाटातच झाले. व त्याचे नाव ठेवले नरेंद्र ! हा नरेंद्र पुढे स्वामी विवेकानंद म्हणून जग प्रसिद्ध झाला.

    सातव्या वर्षी त्याना शाळेत घातले. शाळेत ऐकलेल्या शिव्या तो शिकला. घरात सर्वांना तो शीव्या देऊ लागला. आईने त्याला शाळेतून काढून टाकले व स्व:त शिकवू लागली. बंगाली व इंग्रजी भाष्या त्यांनी नरेंद्र ला शकविल्या तसेच रामायण-महाभारतातील गोष्टी सांगितल्या पुढे नरेंद्र शहाणा झाला. व खूप हुशारही झाला.  परत आठव्या वर्षी त्याना शाळेत घालण्यात आले.

 

पहिल्याच वर्गात त्यांनी अमरकोश पाठ केला. यावरून त्याची बुद्धी किती असामान्य असेल याची कल्पना येते. एका मुसलमान गवयाकडे गायन शिकले.आखाड्यात जाउन कुस्त्या खेळू लागले. चांगले गोटीबंद शरीर कमाविले. त्यामुळे वर्गातील मुलें त्यांना भीत असत. ते सर्वांचे पुढारी होते. त्यांच्या नुसत्या शब्दाने त्यांची भांडणे मिटत. १८७७ साली ते वडिलान सोबत रायपूरला गेले. त्यावेळी बैलगाडीतून प्रवास करावा लागला. तिथे त्यावेळी शाळा तर नव्हतीच त्यावेळी त्याना तेथे रानावनातून  फिरण्याचा व सृष्टी सौंदर्य पाहण्याचा प्रसंग आला. व त्याचाच त्यांनी अभ्यास केला. १८७९ मध्ये परत कोलकत्त्याला आले.परत शाळा सुरु झाली त्यावेळी  त्यांनी वाचनालयात जावून मोठ्मोठी ग्रंथ वाचलीत. त्यावरून अनेक विषय आत्मसाथ केले. फक्त एक दिवसात त्यांनी भुमितीच्या चारी भागांचा अभ्यास केला. ते खेळातही भाग घेत तसेच घोड्यावर बसण्यातही पटाईत होते. वादविवाद करण्यात ते सर्वांनाच हार्वीत असत. ते गाणे म्हणू लागले कि सारेच स्तब्ध होवून ऎकत. त्यांचा आवाज फारच गोड होता. 

     

          नरेंद्राने ब्राम्हण समाजात प्रवेश केला. मूर्ती मध्ये देव नाहीत,जाती नाहीश्या केल्याच पाहिजेत, स्त्रियांना शिक्षण  दिलेच पाहिजेत, हे विचार ऐईकून त्यांच्या मनात गोंधळ होत असे. तेव्हा देव खरच आहे कि नाही? असल्यास कोठे भेटेल? असल्यास त्याची भेट कोन घडवून देणार? या सर्व विचारांनी त्यांचे मन अस्वस्त झाले. ब्राम्हण समाजाचे देवेंद्र त्यांचे प्रश्नाचे समाधान कारक उत्तर देऊ शकले नाहीत. तेव्हा कॉलेजचे प्राचार्य हेस्टी यांनी त्यांना रामकृष्ण परमहंस यांच्या कडे पाठविले. संत परमहंस यांनी आपल्या तिक्ष्न्न  दृष्टीने त्यांच्या डोळ्याकडे पाहिले. ते आपल्या भक्तांना म्हणाले. “हा नरेंद्र मानव जातीच्या उद्धारासाठीच जन्मलेला आहे, तो हिंदुधर्म आणि हिंदुस्थानची मान साऱ्यां जगात उंचावेल!”  नरेंद्रला ते खरे वाटेना त्याने रामकृष्णांना विचारले,” तुम्ही देव पाहिला आहे कां ?” त्यावर रामकृष्ण उत्तरले, ”होय मी देव पाहिला आहे, त्याच्याशी बोललो पण आहे तुलाहि देव सहज भेटेल.”  ” केव्हा भेटेल मला देव ?नरेंद्राने विचारले, ” जेव्हा तुझ्या मनाला देव भेटण्याची तळमळ लागेल तेव्हा . “रामकृष्णांनी म्हटल्या नंतर हि त्यांचा त्यावर विश्वास बसेना, तेव्हा रामकृष्णांनी त्यांच्या हृदयाला स्पर्श केला. त्याच बरोबर सर्वत्र तेजाचे लोळ उठले. सर्वत्र प्रकाश पसरला. व नरेंद्रला सर्वत्र प्रकाश व परमेश्वरच दिसू लागला!

          सन १८८१ साली डफ कॉलेजातून उत्तम गुणांनी बी. ए. ची परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण झालेल्या नरेंद्राने वडिलांच्या मृत्यू नंतर नोकरी करून घराचा भार उचलण्या ऎवजि संन्यास घेतला म्हणून आप्तेष्ट मंडळी  त्यांच्या मागे त्यांची निंदा करू लागले पण नरेंद्रना गुरु कडून योग्य मार्ग मिळाला होता. आणि त्या मार्गानेच जाण्याचा त्यांनी निर्धार केला होता. थोड्याच दिवसांनी रामकृष्ण कर्क रोगाने आजारी पडले. त्यांना उपचारासाठी काशीपूर येथे नेले.त्यांच्या साठी नरेन्द्रही त्यांच्या सोबत गेला.रामकृष्ण त्यांना म्हणाले ” बेटा माझी सर्व योग शक्ती मी तुला दिली आहे. त्याच्या जोरावर तू हिंदूधर्म आणि तत्वज्ञान यांचा जगभर प्रसार कर.,आपल्या राष्ट्राचा उद्धार कर.! “ऎवढे बोलून १५ ऑगष्ट १८८६ रोजी रामकृष्णांनी जगाचा निरोप घेतला. नरेंद्र व रामकृष्ण यांच्या ईतर शिष्यांनी बडानगर येथे त्यांचा मठ स्थापन केला, १८८८ साली नरेंद्र  २५ वर्षाचे झाले. सर्व भारत फिरून बघावा अशी त्यांची ईच्छा झाली. आणि तेव्हाच प्रवासास निघाले.काशी, अयोध्या, गया, आग्रा, वृंदावन असे करीत करीत ते पायीच फिरले,  नरेंद्रला लोक पुढे स्वामी विवेकानंद म्हणू लागले. त्यांनी १८९० साली रामकृष्णांच्या पत्नी शारदादेवी यांचा आशीर्वाद घेतला बाहेर पडले. स्वामी विवेकानंद कन्याकुमारीला पचले. तेथील देवालयात त्यांनी ध्यानधारणा सुरु केली. त्यांना रामकृष्णांनी दर्शन दिले. अमेरिकेत भरणार्या सर्वधर्म परिषदेत जाण्याची त्यांना आज्ञां दिली. १८९३ ला त्यांना ३० वर्षे पूर्ण झाली. स्वामींच्या आशीर्वादाने खेतडीच्या महाराजांना पुत्र प्राप्ती झाली.  स्वामी विवेकानंदा ना महाराजांनी अमेरिकेला जाण्यासाठी योग्य पोशाख व भाडे खर्चाला पैसे दिले.

        ३१ मे १८९३ रोजी स्वामी अमेरिकेला निघाले. त्यांनी रामकृष्णांच्या फोटोला वंदन करून कालीमातेचे स्मरण केले.व भगव्या रंगाचा पोशाख चढविला. व भगवा फेटा गुंडाळला भगवत गीता घेवून त्यांनी बोटीवर प्रवास सुरु केला. चीन, जपान, नंतर ते शिकागो बंदरात उतरले. ११ सप्टेंबर रोजी सर्वधर्म परिषदसुरु झाली. हजारो संख्येने प्रतिनिधी हजर होते. देशोदेशीचे ध्वज फडकत होते. ख्रिस्ती धर्माचे लोक जास्त आले असल्यामुळे ख्रिस्ती धर्माचेच गुणगान ते करीत होते. शेवटी स्वामींची वेळ आली. प्रथम ते घाबरे. पण धीर करून त्यांनी भाषणाला सुरवात केली. “माझ्या अमेरिकन बंधू -भगिनींनो ! या त्यांच्या पहिल्याच वाक्याला सर्वांनी टाळ्यांचा कडकडात केला, तो तब्बल दोन ते तीन मिनिटे चालला. त्यांनी हिंदूधर्मावरील परिपूर्ण भाषण दिले.

 

   

       परिषद संपली, पण स्वामींचे कार्य संपले नव्हते. त्यांनी अमेरिकेतील मोठमोठ्या शहरात व्याख्याने दिली. हिंदूधर्म, तत्वज्ञान यांच्या प्रचारासाठी त्यांनी न्यूयार्क मध्ये अभ्यासवर्ग सुरु केले.अनेक स्त्री-पुरुष त्यांचे शिष्य झाले.हिंदूधर्म, तत्वज्ञान यांचा प्रसार केला. त्यासाठी त्यांनी अनेक ठिकाणी मठ स्थापन केले. रामकृष्णा नची भविष्या वाणी खरी ठरली! त्यांचे शिष्य नरेंद्र उर्फ स्वामी विवेकानंद यांनी जगभर वेदांताचा प्रसार केला. भारताचे नाव उज्ज्वल केले. ! १८९७ साली स्वामी विवेकानंद भारतात परत आले. १मे  १८९७ रोजी त्यांनी रामकृष्ण मिशनची स्थापना केली. व लोक सेवेला सुरवात केली. अमेरिकेत असतानाच ते आजारी पडले. नंतर त्यांची प्रकृती जास्तच बिघडली होती. थोडे दिवस विश्रांती घेऊन ते परत अमेरिकेला जावून आले. १९०२ साली त्यांची प्रकृती जास्त बिघडली मठाचे काम त्यांनी दुसर्यावर सोपविले. ४ जुलै १९०२ साली त्यांनी वयाच्या ३९ व्या वर्षी या जगाचा निरोप घेतला.

            January 1863 A brilliant child was born in Calcutta.  His face was very bright.  It was as if light was pouring down from his face.  That's what viewers felt.  The father of this glorious boy was named Vishwanath Dutt and the mother was named Bhuvaneshwari Devi. Vishwanath Dutt was a famous lawyer from Kolkata.  He had made a name for himself in the business.  He had earned good money. He was virtuous by nature. His wife Bhubaneswari was content and religious.  Therefore, his world was happy.  The glorious child's bar was in full swing.  And named him Narendra!  This Narendra later became known as Swami Vivekananda.

      He was sent to school in the seventh year.  He learned the swear words he heard at school.  He started cursing everyone in the house.  His mother kicked him out of school and started teaching himself.  He taught Bengali and English commentary to Narendra and also told stories from Ramayana-Mahabharata. Later Narendra became wise.  And he became very smart.  Back in the eighth year they were put in school.

     

    In the first class, he recited Amarkosh.  This gives an idea of ​​how unusual his intellect must be.  He learned singing from a Muslim singer. He went to the arena and started playing wrestling.  Earned a well-groomed body.  So the children in the class were afraid of them.  He was the leader of them all.  Their mere words put an end to their quarrels.  In 1877, he went to Raipur with his father.  At that time I had to travel by bullock cart.  When there was no school at that time, they had the opportunity to walk through the forest and see the beauty of nature.  And that's what they studied.  He returned to Calcutta in 1879. When school started again, he went to the library and read a large number of books.  Many subjects were covered from it.  In just one day, he studied the four parts of geometry.  He was good at sports as well as riding a horse.  He used to beat everyone in debates.  He started singing the song in a daze.  His voice was very sweet.

  Narendra entered the Brahmin community.  The idea that there are no gods in idols, that castes must be annihilated, that women must be educated, was confusing to them.  So is God really there or not?  If so, where to meet?  If so, will his visit make an angle?  All these thoughts made his mind restless.  Devendra of the Brahmin community could not give a satisfactory answer to his question.  Then Hesty, the principal of the college, sent him to Ramakrishna Paramahansa.  Saint Paramahansa looked into his eyes with his sharp eyes.  He said to his devotees.  "This Narendra was born for the salvation of the human race, he will raise the dignity of Hinduism and Hindustan in the whole world!"  When Narendra did not think it was true, he asked Ramakrishna, "Have you seen God?"  Ramakrishna replied, "Yes, I have seen God, I have spoken to him, but God will meet you easily."  When will God meet me? Narendra asked, "When your mind yearns to meet God.  "After Ramakrishna said this, he did not believe it, then Ramakrishna touched his heart.  At the same time, flames rose everywhere.  Light spread everywhere.  And Narendra saw light and God everywhere!

       Graduated from Duff College in 1881 with excellent marks.  A.  After the death of his father, Narendra retired from his job and took charge of the house instead of taking charge of the house.  And he was determined to go that route.  A few days later, Ramakrishna fell ill with cancer.  He was taken to Kashipur for treatment. Narendra also went with him for them. Ramakrishna said to him, "Son, I have given you all my yoga power.  On the strength of it, you spread Hinduism and philosophy all over the world, save your nation!  After saying so much, on 15th August 1886, Ramakrishna passed away.  Narendra and Ramakrishna's other disciples established their monastery at Badanagar. In 1888, Narendra turned 25 years old.  He wanted to visit all of India.  And that's when he started his journey. Kashi, Ayodhya, Gaya, Agra, Vrindavan, he walked on foot, people started calling Narendra Swami Vivekananda.  He left in 1890 with the blessings of Ramakrishna's wife Shardadevi.  Swami Vivekananda digested Kanyakumari.  He started meditating in the temple there.  He was given darshan by Ramakrishna.  He was instructed to attend an interfaith conference in the United States.  In 1893, he completed 30 years.  With the blessings of the Swami, the Maharaja of Khetdi had a son.  Swami Vivekananda Na Maharaj paid for the proper attire and fare to go to America.

 I'mSwami left for America on May 31, 1893.  He paid homage to the photo of Ramakrishna and remembered Kalimata and wore a saffron dress.  And he started his journey on the boat with the saffron feta gundala Bhagwat Gita.  China, Japan, then they landed at the port of Chicago.  The interfaith conference started on September 11.  Thousands of delegates attended.  National flags were flying.  They were praising Christianity because of the large number of Christians.  Finally it was Swami's turn.  At first they were scared.  But with patience he began his speech.  “My American brothers and sisters!  Everyone applauded his first sentence, which lasted for two to three minutes.  He gave a perfect speech on Hinduism.

  

The council ended, but the Swami's work was not over.  He gave lectures in major cities in the United States.  He started study classes in New York for the propagation of Hinduism and philosophy. Many men and women became his disciples. He spread Hinduism and philosophy.  For this he established monasteries in many places.  Ramakrishna's prophecy came true!  His disciple Narendra alias Swami Vivekananda spread Vedanta all over the world.  Made India's name bright.  !  In 1897, Swami Vivekananda returned to India.  On May 1, 1897, he established the Ramakrishna Mission.  And started public service.  He fell ill while in the United States.  Later, his condition worsened.  After a short rest, he returned to the United States.  In 1902, his condition worsened and he handed over the work of the monastery to another person.  He passed away on July 4, 1902 at the age of 39.
